Icon – Vladimir’s Virgin

Amazing icon, very delicate – called the « traveled Icon » in Russian, its size allows you to carry it around and hold it in your hand, when you wish to pray and meditate.
The work done is impressive but the photos do not represent the quality of this piece.
Traditionally painted with natural colored pigments and gold leaf technique.

The Mother of God of Vladimir, also known as Notre-Dame of Vladimir, Vladimir’s virgin, or Vladimirskaïa is one of the most worshipped icon in Russia. Vladimir’s Virgin is known as the Saint Patron of Russia.
You will find this icon in the Trétiakov art gallery in Moscow ( Saint-Nicolas of Tolmatchi’s church – museum annex). Her feast day is June the 3rd.
